After the Resurrection, Christ first appeared to Mary Magdalene, commanding her to report the Resurrection to the apostles. However, the apostles did not believe the Magdalene. Before appearing before all the apostles, Christ appeared to the apostles Luke and Cleopas on the way to Emmaus (a city in the vicinity of Jerusalem). Luke and Cleopas at first did not recognize Christ and understood who was in front of them only when he broke the bread and gave it to them.
