Spouses Adrian and Natalia lived in the city of Nicomedia in the Bithyn region of Asia Minor. Hadrian was a pagan and served as an official of the emperor Maximian Galerius (305-311), the persecutor of Christians. Natalia was a secret Christian. During the persecutions near Nicomedia, 23 believers were hiding in a cave. They were caught, tried, tortured and forced to sacrifice to idols. Natalia died on the coffin of her husband on the outskirts of the city of Byzantium, where his body was transferred by believers
