Jonah, at the command of God, was swallowed by a whale, and Jonah stayed in the belly of the whale for three days and three nights. Thrown into the sea and swallowed up by a whale, Jonah did not lose his presence of mind, especially when he saw himself unharmed: in him there was a hope that God would let him see the light of God again and save him from the depths of the sea. He began to pray to God, repenting of his sin. Hearing these prayers, the Lord commanded the whale, and he cast Jonah onto dry land.
