There are 21 saints in the Komi Republic: four saints - Stephen, Gerasim, Pitirim, Jonah and 17 new martyrs who were canonized in 2001 and 2002 and included in the Council of New Martyrs and Confessors of the Russian Church. Among them are three laymen and one woman - nun Elizabeth.
