Konstantin Aleksandrovich Veretsky was born on June 3 (May 21, old style), 1874 in the village of Petrovsky, Bakhmutsky district, Yekaterinoslav province, into a priest's family. In 1892 he graduated from the course at the Yekaterinoslav Theological Seminary, and from 1898 to 1911 he taught the Law of God in various educational institutions of the Novomoskovsk and Pavlograd districts of the Yekaterinoslav province.
