The Holy Martyr Myropia was born in the city of Ephesus at the beginning of the 3rd century. She lost her father early, and her mother raised her in the Christian faith. Saint Myrope, visiting the tomb of the martyr Hermione (Comm. 4 September), daughter of the Apostle Philip, took myrope from her relics and healed the sick. During the persecution of Decius (249 - 251), Myropia retired with her mother to the island of Chios, where she spent time in fasting and prayer.
