Priest Leonid Viktorov was born in Ryazan in 1891 in the family of a deacon. He became an orphan early, and he was accepted for free education at the Ryazan Theological Seminary. After graduation, he served as a psalmist in the church in the village of Boloshnevo, the builder and first abbot of which was his grandfather, Archpriest John Viktorov. In 1912, Leonid was ordained a deacon and then a priest to the Bogorodsky-Nativity Church in the village of Kurbatovo.
