The Holy Martyr Calisa was born in Corinth in the 3rd century BC. and belonged to the Christian community, headed by the righteous elder Kondrat. During the persecution of Christians under the emperor Decius, Kondrat and his followers refused to make pagan sacrifices and voluntarily accepted a martyr's death. They were kept in captivity for a long time, tortured, and then thrown to be devoured by wild animals.
