Archpriest Jonah Moiseevich Atamansky was born on September 14 (27 N.S.) 1855 (1852 - according to Archpriest V. Chemeny) on the day of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross in the city of Odessa on Slobodka Romanovka. His father, Moisey Frolovich Atamansky, was a deacon of the city church of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos
