The icon belongs to the iconographic type of Eleusa (Tenderness). The celebration of the icon takes place on May 28, July 20, August 15 (according to the Julian calendar). Tradition attributes to the icon a miraculous appearance to the Monk Abraham on a tree on a hill near Lake Galich, where he came with the blessing of Sergius of Radonezh
